A net worth of about $122.1 billion! Amancio Ortega is the ninth richest person on the Forbes World’s Billionaires List 2025. He was happy to let his work take the center stage for the rest of his life, showing the humblest of men's interests, through his car collection. 

Known for his simplicity despite being one of the richest men in the world, Amancio Ortega does have a sizeable, albeit modest, collection of cars.

3. 1972 Renault 5

Known as ‘Le Car’ in the US market, the Renault 5 was an innovation of a car - it featured a unibody chassis rather than a platform one for the first time!

Amancio Ortega most probably bought this stylish Renault flagship to celebrate the opening of his first fast-fashion store, Zara, in A Coruna, Galicia, Spain. What is interesting is that it is reported that he still owns this car in one of his garages! Ortega surely cherishes every moment he has spent in this vehicle.

2. 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLS 550

The Mercedes-Benz GL is a luxury SUV, later renamed GLS owing to its SUV-ness. It is known for its comfort and spaciousness.

Ortega has the simplest of pleasures and hobbies a man could have: He adamantly still gets his copy of the Sunday newspaper himself, plays cards with friends, and travels to and fro from his country properties with a trusty driver in his comfy GLS. All in all, the Mercedes GLS is Amancio Ortega's choice for personal activities.

The Mercedes-Benz S class is a machine that exudes elegance and class; Amancio Ortega is so modest that, when he was the chairman of Inditex, he chose to have his office right amongst his employees’ work stations and ate lunch every day, amongst his employees as well!

Only the above anecdote can make one believe the picture above: Ortega removing a simple blazer from the trunk of his S-class while wearing his usual white shirt-dark pant outfit, no chauffeur, no assistant!

The combination of S-Class and Ortega fits so well that he could’ve been the ambassador for the brand if he weren’t so humble and down-to-earth to feature in endorsements, that is. It seems that the S-Class is a popular choice for the World’s wealthiest people.
